Sing is Holiday Magic at its Best

SmuttyCat is charmed by the newest entry in the children’s movie market, ‘Sing‘. Parents and Grandparents who remember children’s movies where there was a great talent show or competition (think all the Muppet movies) with the underdog working really hard to realize their dream will love this movie.

Well ‘Sing‘ is the same principle done with adorable animals in 3D animation. The animals are cute, the songs catchy, but parents may want to let little ones know to only act out the movie at home. There are some really inappropriate parts for little ones to sing out in public.

Of course, all the characters are animals so it gets the SmuttyCat 4 paws up rating.

All in all, Sing is a perfect Christmas break outing for the whole family. Let SmuttyCat know what your family thinks.

Rise of the Guardians, a New Superhero Movie

Smutty is always looking for a superhero movie, but does not usually find them in the Holiday films between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  This year is an exception.

Rise of the Guardians is a fresh take on the idea of a superhero and the role of Santa, the Tooth Fairy, Sandman and the Easter Bunny.  The visuals from Dreamworks are as rich and stunning as Smutty could hope for in an animated movie.

And how can you lose with voicing from Hugh Jackman, Alec Baldwin and Chris Pine?  Smutty believes this is the next holiday classic.

The bad guy here is fear going by the name Pitch.  He of course, wants to take over the world, not understanding that Smutty already has done this.  The concept is fresh, the pacing brisk enough to keep the attention of little humans and the voices snappy and funny.  This movie will make you believe again.

Romnesia and the Rumble

Obama 2012

The President coined a phrase for a new disease this week, “Romnesia” and let us know that this pre-existing condition is covered under Obamacare.

The Salt Lake Tribune demonstrated the evidence of this disease in their post regarding “Too Many Mitts”.  This publication has formerly praised Romney on his accomplishments, however they now state his frequent switches in policy make him unknowable.

On the other hand, Romney’s son Tagg (you’re it) demonstrated the poor parenting skills of both parents by publicly stating that he wanted to “jump out of his chair and take a swing at him” because the President told his father that some of his statements were not true.

Well Tagg, if your dad cannot take the time to check his facts before a debate for the Presidency of the United States of America, he deserves to be told he is not telling the truth.

And Gov. Romney, if your grown son cannot control his mouth without making treasionous statements against the highest office in the land, he does not deserve to be on your campaign staff.  Not to mention what it says about how you raised him.

If you run your house like this, we don’t want you as President.

Looper is Fast-Paced Sci-Fi Action

Looper

Bruce Willis is one of Smutty’s favorite actors and Looper is shaping up to be another of his great works.  A fresh premise, great acting and plenty of mayhem are Smutty’s idea of a great film formula.

In Looper, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis play the same character, Joe, at different ages.  Through time travel, the mob places hits on their enemies.  Joe is sent back 30 years in the past to be bumped off by his younger self.

Since the elder Joe is played by Bruce Willis, we know he is not just going to go quietly.  And that’s where the fun starts.

Grimm Delivers Fast-Paced Fairy Tales

If you haven’t checked out Grimm on NBC, you are missing out on one of Smutty’s best guilty pleasures. Well written with action, drama and occasional dark humor, this is one of the best things on network TV.

Strictly in the PG-13 category, Grimm is fairy tales meets Michael Myers/Freddy Kruegger and a dash of NCIS. These are not the bedtime stories you tell your kittens and puppies. Catch up on the network site if you are just joining.

Michelle Obama Rocks the DNC

The video speaks for itself.  Michelle Obama is great, beautiful, smart, supportive, well spoken and down to earth.  What more can be said, Smutty is in LOVE!

Smutty likes this so much he borrowed 2 paws from a friend to give it 6 paws up!

BTW, Mrs. Obama, can you ask the Prez if he will add pet food to the food stamps of low income families?  That way they won’t have to let their pets go or have them put to sleep.

Play the New Transformers Game Free

For a short time, the new installment demo of Transformers game play is free.  Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is available to play free on XBOX and Playstation.  To whet your appetite, Smutty has provided some clips from the game below.  Great graphics, an established franchise and robots beating up robots.  What more could any game ask for?

Not for kiddies, rated T for teen with animated blood and violence.  The same thing they see on Saturday morning cartoons.

Super Saturday Fun

Welcome to Smutty’s new home.  The whacky fun and antics will continue here starting now.  Let’s look at some videos.  First Arnold gets inducted into the Comic-Con hall of fame, then a quick look at the hero All-Star movie Expendables2.  This may not be the best scripting in the world, but Smutty gives it 2 paws up for pure adrenaline-fueled action.

Let’s face it, no one watches Sylvester, Arnold, Bruce and company for intellectual stimulation.  We see their movies to watch stuff blow up and bad guys get their butts kicked.  And we don’t get disappointed.

Arnold get his due at Comic-Con 2012.

A look at Expendables2

Whacky Wednesday

Wake up to some great funny for Wednesday.  These should get even Mr. Grumpus through the week.  Disclaimer;  Smutty will not pay for dry cleaning if you spit out your coffee or Coke when reading these.

Monday Time Outs

Smutty found the greatest cat pics ever on Facebook over the weekend and wanted to share.  Don’t view these while you’re drinking your coffee or it may come out your nose while you’re laughing.
